Scope and Contents Note

This collection contains the papers of Jacqueline L. Trask Ulrich, a graduate of Russell Sage College. The items in the collection dates from circa 1947 to 1962 with the majority dating between 1948 and 1950. It documents Ulrich’s experience at Russell Sage College and includes a campus map from about 1947, photographs from a campus dance, posters and programs from theater and musical performances, a copy of the student government handbook, two copies of the freshman manual, a copy of the Russell Sage College Bulletin, and programs from the 1950 Commencement and Class Day ceremonies. The collection also contains a play review Ulrich wrote for the New Haven Register in 1962. In addition to a newspaper clipping of the review, there is also a copy of the play’s program as well as a typed draft of the review with revisions.

Biographic Note

Jacqueline L. Trask Ulrich was born on April 29, 1929 in West Haven, Connecticut to Bertha C. Johnson and Lyman M. Trask. She was raised in New Haven and Woodbridge, Connecticut before attending Russell Sage College from 1946 to 1950. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech in 1950. While at RSC, Ulrich was a member of several clubs including the Honor Court. During her senior year, she was president of the French House, one of the dormitories on the RSC campus.

After graduating, Ulrich found employment at the B. Altman & Company in New York City. She further her education by taking classes at the New York Academy of Interior Design and retail courses at New York University. She later became an interior designer at G. Fox & Co. in Hartford, Connecticut. Ulrich wrote for a local newspaper, the New Haven Register.

Ulrich married U.S. Navy commander, John Alan Ulrich at an unknown date. She passed away on February 23, 2014.
